This service allowed many merchants to link EFTPOS transactions to customer identities - enabling loyalty points to be awarded based on total spend.
Closing the service removes a core chain: โspend โ identity โ reward logicโ and exposes something important: card-matching loyalty was never built on transaction truth - it was built on an approximation of it.
Thats because Spend tells you how much - not what was actually bought. Sales total alone does not allow for; precision targeting, category rewards, and true behavioural insight.
